Full Grand Championship Details!

by eli

Image removed.

The AADL-GT 2006 Grand Championships are just under two weeks away, and if you're thirsty for details about the event, you're in the right place. The Grand Championships will happen Saturday, December 16th at the Downtown Library and will consist of three events: The Clan Cup Finals at 12:00 sharp, The Wildcard Tournament starting around 12:45, and then the Grand Championship Tournament itself beginning around 2:00-3:00 depending on wildcard turnout.

The Grand Championship Prize pool WILL contain a BRAND-NEW, HARD-TO-GET Nintendo Wii! Plus, a 2gb iPod nano, and a onyx black Nintendo DS. The champion, second and third place winners get to pick from the prizes in order. The Clan Members that emerge victorious from the Clan Cup will win the first-ever limited edition Clan Cup trophies, plus a small giftcard.

The Grand Championships will be broadcast live on CTN channel 18, so be sure to bring a signed Release Form if you haven't already. We don't yet know when the broadcast will begin, but it will likely begin during the wildcard event. Hope to see you there, and read on for full details about the tournament's new structure.

AADL-GT Round 4 Results: Bros & Co Triumphant!

by eli

Ann Arbor, Michigan. A cold, grey, Saturday Afternoon in November. Surely, nothing could be as important to the sports fans of Michigan as watching Round 4 of AADL-GT 2006 Super Smash Double Dash Championship Series Live on TV! Right? Of course. However, this was this other game going on, some football game or something, so turnout at last weekend's tournaments was a bit low. All the big guns were present, though, so in the absence of any distinct power vacuum, this season's regulars mostly skated to victory through diminished ranks of hopefuls. When all was said and done, Bros & Co took their first Clan Battle victory from Turtle Clan over a spirited round of Gauntlet, setting the stage for an intense Clan Cup next month. Read on for full tournament results.

AADL-GT Round 3 Results: WAH wins again (thanks to Funzo's Folly?)

by eli

The 2006 Super Smash Double Dash Championship season continued last weekend with Round 3 at the Downtown Library. Many events came down to standoffs between our top players, and with only 1 round remaining in the regular season, the competition for a precious spot in the Grand Championships is heating up. The Round 3 Clan battle was once again won by emerging supertitans We Are Hard, who handily defeated the dubiously-chosen representatives of Bro's & Co. More on that later, but first read on for full event details.

WAH with slim lead heading into Round 3

by eli

With all Clan Bonuses awarded, we have an incredibly tight race for the top of the Clan Standings, as Clan We Are Hard comes from nowhere to take a miniscule 8-point lead over Turtle Clan. WAH's meteoric rise was the big story of round 2, as [gtplayer:504] shot up to 2nd place on the Leaderboard, still almost 400 points behind [gtplayer:143]. However, it was WAH's savvy acquisition of emerging Melee titans The Royster Brothers (#5 [gtplayer:614] and #6 [gtplayer:606]), and their 5850 points, that enabled WAH to catapult into first place after winning the Round 2 Clan Battle with a somewhat anticlimactic match of F-Zero GX.
