AADL brings you Revolution in the Streets

Dance Dance Revolution, that is! AADL will be hosting a DDR tournament as part of this Sunday's Dancing in the Streets event in Downtown Ann Arbor. We'll be out there from 1:45-7:00 as part of the Ann Arbor Council for Traditional Music and Dance's yearly event, which this year will feature The Dodworth Saxhorn Band, Phil Ogilvie's Rhythm Kings, Saline's Fiddlers Restrung, the UM Tango Club, Swing Ann Arbor, and much more! The AADL DDR tent will be on Washington Street just east of Main, and we'll have qualifying slots available for both beginning and advanced players throughout the day, and we'll then invite back our top scorers (measured by number of perfects) in both the beginner/light and the standard/heavy bracket for head-to-head finals starting at 6:00 PM. First through Fourth place in each bracket will take home Target gift cards worth up to $40, courtesy of Pfizer. I would also like to say, this topic's title sounded a <strong>lot</strong> cooler than the topic actually was. I mean, DDR in the street in a tent is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I was thinking Eli was actually proposing overthrowing the library administration to allow us to hold tournaments for 'M' rated games. You know, the good old-fashioned kind of revolution.

Either that, or it was something about the Wii and he forgot the name change. I didn't think that was very likely, though.

I think team double dash needs to be changed because 1 win and 1 8th gets u in. Also i think there should be 3 qualifying matches in team mele because 1 bad match and ur out, also there wont be 20 way ties
doomblaze here cuz im 2 lazy 2 swich into my account. if its really a CLAN battle, shouldnt we make it so u have 2 use different people for each event, so your whole CLAN we be in it (makes sense right?) of course if some of your clan members arent there ud use poeple over again 2 fill in the slots, (posted by monkeyman)- because currently if u have a clan with 2 amazing players and the others can't tell one end of a controller from another u still would win. It also looks like your <strong>TOO</strong> lazy <strong>TO</strong> type the word "<strong>TO</strong>"!

I agree monkey and doomblaze, team kart doesnt need changed me and bro got 7th in first race and 1 st in the next proving we had the skill to win and lack of luck to get 7th and than we easily won our next 2 for the win. The thing is that in team kart there are only 2 final races maybe make it a longer elminaiton like bottom 2 out or something. Also team melee should be double elminiation i thnk that might happen by round 3.
also maybe another qual in single kart or extended mariokart

if its that hard 2 see 2 then u should c a doctor, or stop playing video games,

Actually, the <strong>GT</strong> designation comes from the words <em>Grand Touring</em>, which was originally used to designate a class of cars in the 24 Hour races at Le Mans. It was used in Season 1 because we only did Mario Kart Double Dash, a <strong>racing</strong> game. No reference to Gaming Tournaments at all.

Nishant: We were about even, 'tis true... It is because of your training that I have learned to hate and fear the chain-throw. Will you still be playing as Peach, or have you left her forever for the greater speed, skill, and quality that are offered by Fox?
Also, what time will you get there? I'm planning to show up at 11:00 so that MiniBlin and I can duel; would you be able to join us, or would the four-hour drive to Chicago render that impossible?

I've sped up my peach quite a bit using fox trots with a combination of wavedashes (sprint-slides o beleive they were called) and have added wavelanding to my game

I've also got to play against an amazing payer (singular =P): Francisco. His fox is AMAZING

Quite probably; he's 5-0 against me. On the other hand, he's played Falco every single time...
Wavelanding is useful, but how do you do the fox trot (in the context of the game, of course)?

fox trot is a technique that is most effective with fox (hence the name). Some character's dash animation is faster than just running, so you dash dash dash and you should go faster

You can then dash, wavedash, dash, wavedash

MAN! Give it a rest, guys! Let me officially say that I don't care what kind of grammar or spelling or chatspeak you throw out here... it's just a blog, and you make the impression that you want to make. However, I will say that when you're trying to convince me of something that you think we should change about the tournaments, impressions count.

At any rate, I do tell other librarians that the GT stands for Gaming Tournaments, but we chose it because of the racing connotations and such. And I do consider aadl.org/aadlgt a gaming blog at a library... so you're both right. Regardless, it's a dumb thing to be having an argument about, when we could be arguing about how much the PS3 will suck and why.
