Fifth Avenue Fun!

Coyote and Wolf get into all kinds of mischief at the Tuesday 10 am and Wednesday 11 am storytimes at the Downtown Library next week. We are kicking off the winter storytime season with two of our favorite characters!

Silly Songs and Stories

I am really looking forward to silly singing and storytelling with my talented banjo buddy, Noah Haiduc-Dale, on December 29 at 10 am at the Downtown Library. We have a ridiculous story/song involving lots of snorts, clucks and quacks, to get the whole family in on the act. Noah has been entertaining us this past session at storytime and we love to march and dance to Jim Gill songs!

Snowy Blowy Not-So-Showy

Waiting for Winter, Anna’s Wish and Carl’s Snowy Afternoon are my three picks for a classy, quiet lap-read with just a little touch of winter magic. For a rowdier experience, you can join us at the Downtown Library Tuesday 10 am storytime on December 8th for Rabbit’s Gift and How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?

Support Your Lovely Local Authors!

While I’m feeling all mushy this season, it occurred to me that four talented children’s authors who live in A2 also happen to be some of the nicest people to walk into our library. So Shutta Crum, Jacqui Robbins, Joan Blos and Nancy Shaw, here is a big thank you for doing what you do. If anyone has an Ann Arbor cutie who just needs a good read this holiday season, you need go no further than your own home town!

Baby Bits - Kiss Kiss

Babies love books, but what to pick? Pick a book with a sentence or two a page with words and pictures they recognize in their little world. Ms. Rachel did Kiss Kiss today in playgroup. Songs and fingerplays come from CDs in the collection. Try some of these:
Little Gorilla with CD Deep In the Jungle by Joe Scruggs.
Quack Daisy Quack with CD Tom Glazer Sings Honk Hiss Tweet
Bear and Dog with CD Unbearable Bears
How Do You Sleep? with CD Lullabies With Mandolins.

KinderConcert’s Back!

The little ones love to move to the beautiful piano music of Kathryn Goodson, who joins Gari Stein for a story and creative movement a few times a year when the AADL partners with the A2SO. This Friday, at 9:30 am and 10:30 am, we’ll have a special treat because the talented Arie Lipsky will be here to talk “conducting” with the very young. What fun!

Dancing Babies with Dianne Dudley

Dianne Dudley will lead DANCING BABIES program @ Traverwood Branch on Saturday, Nov. 7, 11:00-11:40 a.m. Bring your dancing feet, and rhythm beats. The program is for children under 5 years old with their adult companions.

Halloween Party

You will never see a cuter bunch of witches, ghosts, black cats, and other outrageous costumed creatures than at the Downtown Ann Arbor District Library on Friday, October 30th for storytimes at 9:30 and 10:30 am. After storytime head to Main Street for Trick-or-Treat heaven!

Fifth Avenue Fun!

You will meet the most colorful tree and a spunky girl on a magical journey at next week’s autumn storytimes on Tuesday 10 am and Wednesday 11 am at the Downtown Library.

Fifth Avenue Fun!

If ladybug had her way, she would never raise a wing to fly, she is just that lazy! One sneeze from enormous elephant changes all that. Everything is upside down and topsy turvy at next week’s storytimes on Tuesday 10 am and Wednesday 11 am at the Downtown Library.
