Supersonic Music Makers

I’m happy that we have a music program perfect for the 2-5 year old storytime crowd on Sunday, September 26 at 2 pm at the Malletts Creek branch. Melissa Bruzzano and the Supersonic Music Makers will bring out the superhero in all of us!

Fifth Avenue Fun!

Storytimes are beginning all over town! We’ll be celebrating grandparents at the Downtown Tuesday and Wednesday storytimes, with Beautiful Bananas and the silly folktale, The Squeaky Door. Can’t wait to see all our favorite listeners again!

Shake It!

We are going to be dancing when musician and dad, Duncan Riley, taps out his tunes and keeps us shaking our own handmade instruments made out of tin cans, dvd cases and baby bottles, on Thursday, August 5th at the Downtown Library Youth Story Corner at 7 pm. Check out other ideas for instrument making and singing games.

Calling all Little Pooch Lovers!

Meet Colby the service dog and hear fun doggie tales and songs, at the Downtown Library for Catchy Canine Tales on Thursday, July 8 at 10 am. Colby and her wonderful partner Mary Roderique have served this community for almost six years and Colby is even the mascot at 826michigan!

Construction Junction at the Downtown Library

There's plenty of construction action at the Downtown Library this summer. If you can make it into storytime, on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, we'll head to the fourth floor after stories for a peek at the big dig from way up high!

Billy Jonas at the Ark!

Back by popular demand, the outrageous industrial re-percussionist Billy Jonas will kick off our exciting Make it Happen Summer Reading program at The Ark on Wednesday, June 23. Doors will open at 6:30 for summer reading sign-up and then Billy will rock the house at 7 pm. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Some grown-ups might remember the marvelous SongSisters who entertained thousands of Michigan kids a while back. The good news is, the talented SongSister, Julie Austin, who now lives in Atlanta, is returning to Ann Arbor on June 17 at 7 pm at the Downtown Library. Julie will invite everyone to stomp-along and sing-along and you can purchase her CDs for a little summer treat! Also, don't forget all our wonderful local talent when you head off on those long car trips.
