Ages 2-5.

Fifth Avenue Fun!

Shouldn’t bear be home by now? Could he be out in the storm? We are bearly hanging in there at the Tuesday 10 am and Wednesday 11 am storytimes at the Downtown Library next week as big bumbling bears get into all kinds of trouble.

Fifth Avenue Fun!

We are going bananas next week at the Tuesday 10 am and Wednesday 11 am storytimes at the Downtown Library. A journey to Grandpa’s with a single banana turns into quite an adventure. So does the fall down the hole into mouse country in the Roly Poly Rice Ball!

Dancing Babies!

If you are a member of the AADL storytime crowd then you know Betsy Beckerman and Sara Melton Keller. We have been bouncing to their wonderful songs for years, so why not get up and dance along? I can’t wait for circle dances, marches, and other baby moves at Dancing Babies on Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00 pm at the Pittsfield Branch!

Jazzy Tuesday!

Bring the little ones to join Kathryn Goodson on piano, Erin Zurbuchen on double bass, and Gari Stein for dancing and creative movement on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30 pm at the Downtown Library. The musicians from the Ann Arbor Symphony have never offered their fun and educational Kinder Concert for families in the evening at the library before so I am really looking forward to dancing along!

Rolling Sculptures

Stop by the Ann Arbor District Library’s tent from 2-8 pm on Friday, July 10th on Liberty St. between Fourth and Fifth Ave. to make a Rolling Sculpture out of goodies from the Scrap Box and meet Hillary Will, the fastest woman top fuel dragster driver in the world, who will also be speaking at the Downtown Library earlier in the week. The library is joining Main Street Area's Rolling Sculpture Car Show for the first time this year just for the pure fun of it! Use all your creativity to design a wild vehicle and you just might win a prize!

Jumping Beans Wanted!

My friend Kris Groh, who has inspired little ones with her interactive movement classes at the Y, says that the Jumping Beans program Downtown on June 25 at 10:00 am will be a chance for parents to have fun moving with their kids. She will be joined by Noah Haiduc-Dale, who plays the banjo and says that his three kids have become discerning music critics. Their latest favorites? Jim Gill, Elizabeth Mitchell, Phil Rosenthal and, of course, their Dad, who leads a casual weekly music time at a neighborhood park. This program, for ages two through five, should be a boppin' blast!

Mo Willems' Naked Mole Rat!

Naked Mole Rat Gets DressedNaked Mole Rat Gets Dressed

Mo Willems, famous for Knuffle Bunny, Knuffle Bunny Too, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog, Pigeon Wants a Puppy, and other books for young readers has a new book, Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed. This is very exciting for me because naked mole rats are the cutest little ugly things ever! Willems' book is delightful, entertaining for both children and the adults reading to them. Maybe you didn't enjoy the Pigeon books, but what's not to love about a naked mole rat?
