Grand Championship Weekend! End the Decade with a SMASH

by eli

The year is drawing to close. The days are almost as short as they're going to get. 2010 and that weird monolith space baby thing are right around the corner. So what should you do with yourself this weekend? Just escape the holiday madness and slush-drenched sidewalks with some serious competition at the Downtown Library!

It all begins with a Super Smash Bros. Brawl Regulation Throwdown for ages 13+ on Friday Night, 12/18, at 6 PM.. These events have become hotly contested, with some of the best players in the COUNTRY showing up, so show up and see how you fare. The action continues on Saturday with the 6th Annual AADL-GT Smash Kart Grand Championships for grades 6-12 starting at Noon with the Wildcard Tournament and rolling right on into the Grands themselves. I'm hoping to get a PS3, an iPod Touch, and a DSi to give away, so show up for a shot at some serious prizes!

Then, don't miss our 3rd annual GT Awards and Grudge Buffet, Sunday 12/20 at 1 PM, featuring lots of open play, the Clan Cup for the top clans of the season, the GT awards and hall of fame inductions, and.... TACO BAR.

Then, with school out, come on downtown for an All Ages Open Play Monday 12/21 from 1-5 PM and come back for our first-ever Wii Sports Resort Tournament for All Ages on 12/21 at 6 PM!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! The action continues on Tuesday with ANOTHER All Ages Open Play Tuesday 12/22 from 1-5 PM and then once again come back for something completely different: GAMECUBE Nostalgia Night! 12/22 at 6 PM for All Ages. Mini-tournaments in some of the best games from the mighty lunchbox... including, perhaps, our lost love Melee? Who knows? Just get to the library and CHECK IT OUT!
