G is for Gunniwolf and Goats Gruff. The Gunniwolf is not scary when illustrated by Barbara Upton. Tom Roberst tells a classic version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. For a Mexican version you can find The Three Cabritos who outwit Chupacabra at the bridge. And then there is an updated telling by John and Ann Hassett called the The Three Silly Girls Grubb. It is a treat of a twist as each girl meets Ugly Boy Bobby at the bridge who is going to "Eat your lunch!" on the way to school.

This week is dedicated to a Russian version of "The Enormous Turnip" in Ms. Rachel's Storytime. You can enjoy different versions of this tale in the following titles:
The Enormous Turnip by Kathy Parkinson is a traditional telling of the story.
Grandma Lena's Big Ol' Turnip is a southern contemporary retelling of the tale.
The Enormous Turnip story for "beginning readers".
Big Pumpkin the Halloween version with a witch and all the costumed "monsters" helping.

Anansi And The Moss-Covered Rock by Janet Stevens.

The most memorable part is not the trick or the trouble ... the best part is the tigers turning into delicious tiger butter and being spread on pancakes for dinner. Yumm!
