Patron Comment: The movies are now too low and inaccessible to many of us. Is this even ADA compliant?

Patron Comment: I have several years worth of a number of magazines and periodicals, as well as a number of books (no text books) that I would like to donate to the library. Among the magazines are included: American Photo, Consumer Report, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Popular Photography, and a few others. If push came to shove, I could probably come up with the list of books, as well. My question: would you accept these if I donated them to the library - If yes, then how would I proceed, where would I go, etc. If no, then would you have any other suggestions for how I could dispose of these items. Many thanks, and a Happy New Year.

AADL Reply: Books are accepted, however, magazines are not. Magazines can be recycled at Recycle Ann Arbor, 2950 East Ellsworth, 734-971-7400. Monday-Saturday 9-5. Book donations may be brought to the back of the Downtown Library during library business hours. Enter the Staff Parking lot off William Street, ring intercom buzzer at door and tell receptionist that you have books to donate. Donation bins are directly inside the door. The Friends of the Ann Arbor District Library will then process your donation. For more information visit http://www.faadl.org/ and follow the "How to Donate" link. Thank you.

Regarding: facility issue

Patron Comment: Something needs to be done about the automatic blinds, heat, and windows that automatically opens and shuts. First, there is a cold draft coming in which is uncomfortable. Second, the sunlight sheet prevents people from working on those tables.

Regarding: noise

Patron Comment: people talking at computers station constantly, also the people that work here too.

AADL Reply: Thank you for contacting us about your library visit being disrupted by noise. I am sorry to hear that your visit was disturbed. The Library's Rules of Behavior are available at every desk and online at http://www.aadl.org/aboutus/policies/behavior. Rule #12 specifically deals with sustained conversation or other sounds louder than the general noise level of the area. In the future, please feel free to let any of our staff know (even if they themselves are the culprits) that conversations louder than the general noise level of the area are disrupting your visit. We do our best, but cannot be everywhere at once or address situations we are not aware of, and rely upon patrons like you to let us know when our Rules are being violated. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Best regards, Celeste Choate Manager of Access and User Services

Regarding: parking

Patron Comment: Your parking lot needs monitoring/policing. Today two cars were parked in the walkway and a woman parked in a handicap space without a sticker.

AADL Reply: Thanks for contacting the Library. The Library has Security staff at Malletts Creek on a part-time basis and regulating parking is one of their duties. If you see someone parked in a Handicapped space without a permit let staff know or call the City of Ann Arbor, Parking Enforcement @ 734.994.2908 to report the violation. Regarding: computers

Patron Comment: While using the computers, the warnings are not what they are cited to be. The 5 minute warning is actually 2 minutes long, 2 minute warning is 1 minute long, 1 minute warning is 20 seconds. This is bunch of B.S.
