Regarding: computers

Patron Comment: While using the computers, the warnings are not what they are cited to be. The 5 minute warning is actually 2 minutes long, 2 minute warning is 1 minute long, 1 minute warning is 20 seconds. This is bunch of B.S.

Patron Comment: At the main desk, having the return book drop slot directly in front of when people checkout books with the librarian creates a traffic tie up. The new library should have a better set-up. I love the self serve checkout process. It would seem beneficial if patrons could also check in their books, in a similar fashion. Perhaps that technology is on the way? I love our Northeast Branch Library. Everyone who works there is friendly, helpful and professional!

AADL Reply: Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you like about the NEB and what we can do better. You'll be pleased. The dropbox in the new Traverwood Branch is near, but not at the desk. Hopefully, we will address the traffic patterns better in the new building. The technology that you mention is available, but we are waiting on it to be developed a bit more for efficiency and cost. Someday you will drop a book in a return slot at AADL, and it will be checked in at that moment. Thanks also for the compliments on the staff. I will pass these along and I know they will be appreciated. Sincerely, Josie Parker Director

Patron Comment: I would suggest the library return to men’s and women’s separate restrooms…for healthy sanitary reasons. Thank you.

Patron Comment: Please could you make your study rooms a time limited. i.e. one hour per your patrons. This would be a fair way of letting others to use the facilities. Thanks.

AADL Reply: Thank you for the suggestion. We find that people using our study rooms need them for varying amounts of time. Offering study room space on a first-come-first-serve basis, without reservations or restrictions, we hope is better service than arbitrarily limiting time. Some days a person or group may need a space for several hours, and the next day the space may be empty for hours, but available to anyone. We do have study rooms in all of our buildings, except NEB and Westgate. If you are having difficulty finding study room space in one location, perhaps you should try at a different library building. For example, after school hours in the branches is very busy, but the Downtown Library spaces on the second and third floors are not as used during that time of day. While we are not able to reserve or hold space, library staff will be happy to call another location to inquire about the availability of study room spaces. Again, thank you for the suggestion.
