Patron Comment: Please remove computers in the kids area. My kids won't look at books if computer games are available. I avoid brining my kids to the library as a result, which is sad.

Patron Comment: Hello, I visited the Westgate branch of the library yesterday and inquired about use of the study cubes. I was informed that they were first-come-first-use. The next day I arrived at the library around 9:50am, 10 minutes before the posted opening time. I was surprised to see that the library was full of people and all the study cubes were already taken before the library's posted opening hours. I inquired at the desk what time the library actually opens. I was informed that while the library does not "technically" open until 10, because of Sweetwaters opening earlier they allow people to start entering the library "sometime" around 8am. This is unfair to those that do not know about the "informal" hours of the library. The posted hours need to be enforced, the posted hours need change, or the rooms need to be by reservation to make this fair to all members of the community. Sincerely,

AADL Reply: Hello, thank you for contacting us. We're sorry for your frustration. Sweetwaters makes for an unusual situation at Westgate; they set their own hours. Once AADL staff are in the building, we drop the rope between the cafe and the library and allow patrons to enter the library. However, we are not able to commit to a definite schedule of when that happens, because those are not public service hours and may be impacted by staff availability, traffic, or other unpredictable factors. If you would like to be sure to have a room available, you can book rooms at AADL locations in advance with your library card at http://aadl.org/rooms . You'll generally find it much easier to get private rooms without a reservation at our other locations as Westgate tends to be very busy. We're sorry for the trouble, but we don't intend to make any changes to our opening procedures at this point. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for using your library. -eli Eli Neiburger Director Ann Arbor District Library

Patron Comment: IF YOU DECIDE TO ORDER AN ITEM THAT'S SUGGESTED BY A "PATRON", YOUR FORM SHOULD INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE PATRON AND INDICATE THE ITEM BE HELD FOR SAME, RATHER THAN EVERYONE & ANYONE HAVE EQUAL CHANCE TO CHECK IT OUT WHEN IT ARRIVES. AFTER ALL, THE PERSON WHO WANTS YOU TO ORDER IT WANTS TO READ/SEE IT!

Patron Comment: It would be great if there were a few standing desks. Speaking for myself, doing computer work sitting down hurts my neck + shoulders. I'm sure other folx would get use out of them too!

Patron Comment: I have checked out several puzzles that had pieces damaged and/or missing. I wish the library would attach a warning to go with the puzzles that explains that whenever a puzzle piece does not fit in a puzzle, they should not force it into that place because it will damage it and prevent them from completely constructing the puzzle. Removing that piece the twas forced in will damage it even more. I suggested this to a library employee, and he told me that the library cannot do that and that the library can easily and cheaply replace damaged pieces. However, it would be better if people learned that they cannot do a puzzle if they force pieces in, and they would enjoy puzzles much more. It is very wasteful to waste puzzle pieces, and it is denying people the fun of a puzzle.

Patron Comment: I suggest using the same filling system for all your libraries. H. Mantel's Cromwell trilogy is w/ "History" fiction at Westgate but just regular fiction downtown. Waste of time when trying to find things!
