Old City Hall
Although this picture of Ann Arbor's old City Hall acjxiss f rom the main fire station was taken in 1940 (note the vintage automobiles parked on Fifth Ave.), the building was not torn down until 1965. During the postwar years up until 1962, when the building was sold for $125,000, the city crowded most of the offices of an panding municipaty into'this structure. There was an overflow, however, into the Huron St. building on the right and the second floor of the Weinmann Bldg. (Fischer Hardware) at left, out of the picture. The City Center Building was erected on this site, after the city moved into the new City Hall across the street.
