Grand Championship Details
The Grand Championships of the 2005 season are barely a week away, and you've got questions about how it's all going to work. Well, you're in the right place for answers. Here's how it's all going to happen.
First, the Clan Cup will start promptly at 12:00 on Saturday, December 17th, so if you're a primary or a sub for one of the top 8 clans, be there on time (or even early), or forfeit your first match. Subs can absolutely be used in the Clan Cup, but at least one primary must be present, and the four players who play for the winning clan at the Clan Cup are the ones who will get the prize, 4 512mb iPod shuffles. Now, your Clan's standing is going to figure heavily in how much opposition stands between you and victory; not only will the higher-ranked clans get byes for the first rounds, but also, any ties will be broken by the clan standings. So, read on for full details.
Clans 5-8 face off in Super Smash Team Battle, 4-stock, 5-minute, Items Medium, Final Destination. 2 clans advance, so if more than one clan has a winning and losing team, the higher-ranked clan moves on. We then have 6 clans.
Clans 3-6 face off in Mario Kart Co-op Race. The two clans with the highest combined total score from a single race move on. Down to 4 clans.
Clan 2 faces Clan 3 in Mario Kart SHINE THIEF! 1 player per kart, the clan with the Shine when time runs out moves on to the final.
Clan 1 faces Clan 4 in Shine Thief, winning clan moves on to the finals.
Clan Cup finals; surprise game... winning clan takes home 4 shuffles!
Commentators will be Tom and Leinad for the entire Wildcard Event. The wildcard tournament will have Super Smash Qualifying rounds, our standard 4-player, 2-stock, 2-minute format. Number of matches depends on turnout. We then move on to Mario Kart Elimination, with 4th or better moving on, until we have our final 8 wildcards. They then join the prequalifiers in the Grand Championship Brackets.
Commentators will be from among Tom, Leinad, Sravan, Joe, Muffincat, Duck, and Figwit. We'll use a similar format to the wildcard; Super Smash, 4-player, 2-stock, 2-minute format, with multiple matches depending on turnout, and then the top players move on to Kart Race elimination rounds. When we get down to the top 8 players, we'll move to the first of two surprise games for the Championships. The first surprise game will take us down to 4 players, each of whom will be winning one of the prizes, it's now just an issue of who gets victory and the first pick of the prizes. We'll have two semifinal matches with the final surprise game to determine who goes to the third place match and who goes to the finals... and then the big event. The winner gets first pick of the prize pool, 2nd gets to pick from what's left, etc. The prize pool contains a Sony PSP value bundle, a 30gb iPod with video, a Nintendo DS Kart Bundle, and a Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP. Plus, everyone who attends should get a sweet new AADL-GT/AXIS t-shirt.
Recruitment bonuses will be posted soon. Let me know if you have questions, and see you Saturday.
