First Six Months

This event is intended for babies up to 6 months with their parents.

TThis new parent group offers an opportunity for new parents and pre-toddler infants to meet and play in an unstructured, comfortable setting at the Library.

Baby Playgroups

Friday February 20, 2015: 10:30 am to 11:30 am -- Traverwood Branch: Program Room

This event is intended for babies up to 24 months.

This is a time for babies up to 24 months and their grown-ups to gather and play. The Library will provide the space and a variety of toys.

Each playgroup includes 15 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs. Parents/guardians must remain with their children.

No older siblings, please.

English as a Second Language Conversation Group

Washtenaw Literacy's ESL groups focus on speaking and listening skills for adults in an informal, relaxed setting. TOEFL preparation is also available.

GameStart: Minecraft Programming

This event is intended for Grades 3-8

Explore the endless possibilities of Minecraft programming using the Python programming language! Begin with the basics of navigating 3D space via code. Then work your way up to our automated-city-building programming challenges! Along the way, learn Python concepts like loops, arguments and functions. No prior experience necessary. This hands-on session will be led by the staff from GameStart.

Pan African Youth Orchestra

This African youth orchestra, led by Kweku Kwakye, traveled from Ghana to Michigan to perform at AADL and in schools in Washtenaw County.

Amigurumi Crochet Happy Fun!

This event is intended for adults and teens grade 6 and up

Looking for a seriously fun and unique craft obsession?

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed toys. Local crafter Beth Battey will teach you how to make your own cute amigurumi octopus. Beginners with lots of patience are welcome to give it a try, but previous crochet experience is recommended. Beth will be teaching a Beginning Crochet class on Saturday, January 10, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Pittsfield Branch. A “crochet cam” will be set up for projection of instructions on the big wall! All supplies will be provided.
