AADL participates in the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services to offer ebooks and audiobooks to our patrons using OverDrive, a third-party digital distributor of ebooks and audiobooks.

- Read the lending policies. Check out up to 10 books at a time and choose 7, 14, or 21 day lending periods.

- Sign in using the library name, Ann Arbor District Library, and library card number.

ebooks
Ebooks are digital versions of print books for on-screen reading on your computer, eReader or mobile device.
- Read PDF and EPUB ebooks using Adobe Digital Editions.
- Read OverDrive Read ebooks using your internet browser.
- Also in EPUB format are the always available ebooks (public domain) that never expire and don’t count against the library checkout limit (up to 10 at a time).
- Read EPUB ebooks without using Adobe Digital Editions or Overdrive using Open EPUB ebooks that are the same format as the other EPUB ebooks but without the Digital Rights Management (DRM) and may be read using an EPUB reader software your choice.
- Read Kindle books using a Kindle eReader or using Kindle app on a mobile device. Learn how to get library ebooks for your Kindle.
audiobooks
OverDrive audiobooks are downloadable to a computer, eReader or mobile device. The audiobooks may be burned to CD or transferred to a portable device such as a mp3 player, including an iPod. These audiobooks use DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection technology from Microsoft.
- To download audiobooks to your computer, download and install the OverDrive Media Console for Desktop.
- To download audiobooks to your mobile device or eReader, download the OverDrive Media Console for Mobile.
- Is your device compatible? Go to DRM compatible devices.
- Only MP3 formats are compatible with iPods and Macs

Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled
Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled @ AADL patrons can download books from BARD (the Braille and Audio Reading Download).
- Only patrons registered for service through WLBPD or through any library in the National Library Service network with an active status are eligible to download from BARD.
- WLBPD patrons must first apply for a login and password and have a computer with a high-speed internet connection.
- Audiobooks and magazines are downloaded as zipped files and unzipped to a digital cartridge, USB or compatible device.
- In addition to the Digital Talking Book Machine (DTBM) provided by the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, patrons may also use NLS-compatible commercial machines.
- Print disabled patrons may Sign up for Bookshare to participate in the Library eBook Accessibility Program (LEAP) using OverDrive.
