Teen books on TV

by Sarah T

With the new series Gossip Girl premiering on CW last week, I've been thinking about other television series based on books for teens or tweens. My list is sadly short: Gossip Girl (series by Cecily Von Ziegesar), (series by Laura Ingalls Wilder), and of course tons of comic book-based television shows.

Sure there are movies based on teen books such as How to Deal based on several books by Sarah Dessen, I, Robot (original book by Isaac Asimov), and (original book by Ann Brashares).

And there’s never a shortage of books based on TV shows such as Teen Titans, Smallville, and That’s So Raven.

However, when it comes to television shows based on teen/tween books, the list is short. Can you think of any?

I'll play! How about the short lived TV Show [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411004/|Life As We Know It] circa 2004 starring Kelly Osbourne? It was based on the the English novel by Melvin Burgess, [t:Doing It]. Going back a bit to 1990 there's the [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096673/|TV Version] of teen classic The [t:Outsiders] by [a:Hinton, S.E.|S.E. Hinton] starring [a:Arquette, David|David Arquette] and [a:Thornton, Billy Bob|Billy Bob Thorton]. And I can't help but mention [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108949|Sweet Valley High] based on the "books" of the same name by [a:Pascal, Francine|Francine Pascal]. They also turned Pascal's Fearless series into a [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363333/|TV Show] too. Basically all flops looking at the list...
