2017 Midlands / Northern Conference: NLS Standards Revisions Presented by Eura Szuwalski, Project Director

On June 6-8, 2017, the Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled hosted the 2017 Midlands/Northern Conference, hosting representatives from Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Ann Arbor. The conference focused on the future direction of library services for the blind & physically disabled and preparation for the changes ahead.

Eura Szuwalski, Project Director on the revision of the 2011 Standards and Guidelines of Service for the Library of Congress Network of Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped discuses the new standards, which are scheduled for completion in Fall 2017. There have been a number of significant changes in the operation of Network Libraries and in the development and use of new technologies. The revised draft represents a new approach to the Standards and Guidelines for Network Libraries.
