Dear girl in the yellow coat,

I saw you for the first time today. I have so many questions. How do you enjoy yellow at this time of year? It is gloomy and nothing is yellow. It is so very grey. Why doesn’t your yellow coat make you sad that you are alone because you’re the only yellow thing in the dead of winter.

Dear girl in the yellow coat,

I want to meet you. I want to ask you how you talk to your friends and smile while you walk down the path.

Dear girl in the yellow coat,

I saw you today wearing a yellow jacket. This one is short with flowers. The weather is nice today. How do you enjoy yellow at all?

Dear girl in the yellow coat,

I do not understand you and maybe I don’t have to. Maybe we just find beauty in two different worlds and we have two different stories. Maybe your mother painted your nursery with cool colors and not just what made her happy. Maybe you are not sad when it’s cold because yellow is your safety and comfort and you always have yellow.

Dear girl in the yellow coat,

You didn’t know I planned to approach you. “I like your yellow coat’, I said to you. You do not know me and I barely know you. But you were happy to know someone who has only ever known how to dwell, was able to understand why you found beauty in yellow.
