It was dark in the room. The air was cold and a silent but firm beep was heard from across the room. My vision was blurry and I could really see anything. All I couldn’t figure out from my current state that I was in a bed. A hospital bed. My body was numb so I was unable to move it. Something in my mind made me think that if I panicked it would just make things worse. I don’t know how much time could have passed by now but suddenly a door on the side of the room opened. In walked a strange man. He was wearing a mask with silver slicked back hair and grey misty eyes. I tried not to pay attention to how he just stood there. I was too frightened. Walked behind him was a female, a nurse. She looked just a mysterious as he was. Her hair covered almost half her face. Her hands clenched a small clip board and if you studied close enough you could tell that she was shaking.

“Doctor, this is patient 1 for sure,” she said lowering her head.

“Good, good, now let me continue my work, carry along.” With that being said she then left the room with only the doctor and I. He walked up to my resting form and looked at me deep in the eyes. I dared not to blink. Suddenly, his hand then came upon my forehead, resting on it. I shut my eyes tight knowing not what is next to come.

“Don’t worry my dear, I am not going to hurt you,” he said. I open my eyes to find a smile placed on his face but at the same sort of serious look.

“You should be the complete opposite of scared actually, you should be happy that the procedure is almost over and that what you have so desperately wanted is almost now yours.” I didn’t know what he meant.

“W-who are you?” I manage to say after some time.

“Well,” he said as he backed up from the bed. The smile that he once head was gone and I swear I saw a twitch form at the side of his mouth, “I am the one who made you what you are.” That’s all I could remember from that specific day. The day that doctor took away everything.

“GET ME OUT OF HERE,” I yelled once more. The chains on my feet starting to dig into my skin, “I DON’T WANT THIS LIFE ANYMORE.”

Just like every other day the people outside of this room ignored me. I’ve been stuck in this room for almost six months. Things beyond imagine happened to me, things that not just some ordinary person can survive. I could feel my mind, everything inside me start to slowly rot but yet I’m still here. They are going to inject it in me again today. I just know it.

Sliding away from the door, I made my way to the corner. It was the only safest spot that would make me feel somewhat safe. I backed into it until I could almost feel my spine crack behind me. The room was small sometimes and big others. It was almost like my mind was messing with me, like it has become my greatest enemy.

“Someone help me…please,” I said slowly making my way onto the floor and look at the ceiling. My mom’s face would sometimes be planted on it and I would smile. I missed her so much it was so unbearable. It’s my fault this happen though. I left and now we will never see each other again.

Suddenly I could hear keys from behind the door. I counted each key that was tested as the door was attempted to be open. The door then finally open revealing the same doctor, the doctor that is destroying me.

“Stay the hell away from me,” I spat. Behind him he pushed in a table with a needle and a tube of dark liquid on it.

“Relax, this will not take up any time at all,”he said with a devilish smile.

“To hell it will, it's killing me!” I could hear my voice crack, but like always he ignored me and walked up to me. I wanted to fight back but last time I tried to do that I spent almost two days upside down during this process. If this stuff rushes through your brain is more effective.

“Stay still,” he said as he kneeled down and yanked forward my arm, “you know how this feels, it will only be a great satisfaction once more.” After saying that he injected the dark liquid into my forearm and slowly pulled the needle out letting me fall back onto the ground. The room became blurry and my pupils dilated. I slowly tilted my head up to see his eyes full of satisfaction. He truly sickens me. He got up from his position and gathered his things making his way to the door.

“Why?” I said as I could feel myself-slipping away from consciousness. I didn’t mean for him to hear my words but it made him turn around and looked at me.

“Why you ask?” he questioned taking his hands off the doorknob, “You wanted this. You wanted to be different from the rest of the mankind. You wanted to feel as if you deserve something more. A gift that even God himself will never offer, Immortality.”

“I-I didn’t know..,” I said with clenched teeth.

“You knew sweetheart, you knew the lengths you were going to take. You are in fact number 1 after all. Though, there are more who are suffering the same they aren’t our main stars. Once my idea. My invention kicks in and makes you into something great, people won’t look at me as a joke anymore,” He said. It began to make me wonder if he only does these things in his own pleasure.

“It’s killing me…I know it is,” I said. He didn’t reply to me at all but left the room. I assume hours have passed and I was still laying on the cold floor. Lying there it felt like information I have known for life slowly started to escape my head. Where am I? What voice is this? This isn’t mines. Was my hair always brown?

Later I then found myself boost with more energy. I was feeling a lot better from when he injected me. Though, I still can’t remember my previous questions I didn’t think it mattered anymore because of how good I felt now. Three o’clock hit and the nurse came in with lunch, a sandwich. I was never so overjoyed by a sandwich before. After eating it, I sat patiently waiting for something else to happen. I almost didn’t notice a small smiling forming on my face as if everything that is happening is ok. It is okay right?

The room grew quieter and I heard footsteps from outside. I knew it was the guard and that lights were turned out, but once more keys jammed into the door in front of me and in came the doctor. He didn’t have a table this time, just himself.

“You must be tired?” he said as he made his way to me. I wasn’t surprise to see that in his left hand he held a needle. It was smaller this time but it has the same substance in it.

“My boss told me to wait until tomorrow to begin again but I just can’t, it's working!” he said as he leaned down towards me, grabbing my arm. The needle then dug into my skin, immediately causing my eyes to black out. I fell to the ground but my eyes kept contact to his.

“How are you feeling… are you feeling a change?” he said.  I didn’t respond, for some reason I didn’t have the energy anymore, so I just closed my eyes. I could feel the wing of his jacket arise as he got up and left the room like nothing happened.

All night I kept repeating how this is killing me but at the same time I felt a change. A change of me actually being able to live forever. What is my purpose? What country did I originate from? Was this room always this small? Am I dead or..? Once again strange questions circled my head and I lost all my memory of who I really was that night. I felt like an empty void, like a science experiment that didn’t get the job quite done.

The morning hit and I got up, again feeling like I was completely healed. I didn’t know much about what was happening anymore but I felt indestructible, as if nothing can stop me. Breakfast taste better, even if it wasn’t from a five star restaurant. I sat on the floor, staring at the ants who seem to make a way into this cramped room. They has a choice to be free but decided to be in here instead. I shared my crumbs with them and hummed to a forgotten song that kept swarming my mind ever since breakfast.

Suddenly, a drop of blood fell in front of me landing on the floor. I got up immediately and backed my way into the wall. I raised my hand to my face and felt blood coming out of my nose.

“Oh my god, HELP ME!” I said as I ran up to the door pounding on it, “SOMEONE, PLEASE.” The doctor then came barging it. He grabbed me by my shoulders and looked me in my eyes.

           “You’re bleeding…,” he said.

“Now what is happening, am I dying?!” I replied.

“No, you’re not, you just need another shot, and you will be brand new.” He then left the room and came back with the same shot. This time it was bigger than last time.

“Are you sure this is helping me, I mean, I feel a change but at the same time weird things are happening. What kind of feeling will I feel this time? ” I said. He didn’t say another but signaled out for my arm. I didn’t hesitate when I gave it to him. I knew that it would just make me feel better and I was actually desperate right now.  He injected it in me and I fell to the ground. My limbs never gave up on me so fast before. Though this was happening, I couldn't feel a thing. I felt as if I was better; that all my work finally paid off. But my mind became blank. What? Why? When? …..silence. A strange, unknown voice then echoed throughout the room making my eyes shoot up to a strange figure glaring down on me.

Don’t worry,” he said, “This time you won’t even feel a thing; you won’t remember anything-”
