As a new Afghanistan emerges from the ruins, a brave group of cultural warriors has picked up the gauntlet and is fighting to preserve its heritage. Victor Sarianidi, the legendary Russian archaeologist, returns to Afghanistan for the first time in two decades in a bid to verify the famous Bactrian Hoard he excavated. Last seen in 1989, its 20,000 gold objects - more than in the tomb of Tutankhamen - have been rediscovered in a secret vault under the Presidential Palace in Kabul . . ..but is it the real Bactrian Hoard?
