Two months into her journey and well into the high mountains of northern Peru, host Karin meets a sorcerer: a man with the power to cure ills and see into the future. In this episode of Along the Inca Trail, Karin participates in an all-night healing ceremony, which requires drinking San Pedro cactus juice and snorting liquid tobacco. Continuing on to the Chachapoyas, Karin befriends a local farmer who offers to be her guide. She discovers hundreds of ancient Chachapoya burial chambers, each containing a mummy.
