Luc Besson is considered a pivotal figure in the Cinéma du look film movement, which identified a style of filmmaking that favored style over substance and spectactle over narrative. His films Subway, The Big Blue and Nikita are all classic examples of this stylistic school, though he is also known for Léon: The Professional, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The Fifth Element, Lucy and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. In this program, we meet him at La Cité du Cinéma, which he founded in 2017
