Organ-Centric Jazz submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 12:51pm This jazz trio consists of drums, bass, and electric organ, giving the ensemble a unique sound that they mine for all it’s worth. Because the organ takes center stage, the music has a natural upbeat vibe to it, even on the tracks played at slower tempos; there’s always a lot of life and a sense of direction. I loved the creative use of percussion, which extends far beyond standard basic jazz patterns and embraces syncopated, shifting beats that form the rhythmic underpinnings for each track without being beholden to a steady, unchanging pattern. This is music that feels alive, and it’s impossible not to move along as one track fades into another for a completely satisfying experience. I wish I could hear this again for the first time.
