series tends to oversimplify submitted by camelsamba on August 26, 2023, 11:49pm This book correctly states that only some snakes are dangerous to humans, then spends a fair amount of time telling you how to eliminate snake habitat in your yard. It would be helpful if that were prefaced with “if you live in an area with dangerous snakes” because that advice will otherwise lead to bland yards not appealing to wide biodiversity. And while this may seem like nitpicking, it’s my reaction to this series overall: in the interest of broad coverage while simplifying for their target audience, the authors OVERsimplify some aspects.
