Exactly What It Says on the Box submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2022, 5:53pm This album offers precisely what it promises in the title, with the saxophone taking on famous melodies from chamber compositions while accompanied by additional instrumentation. What I found most remarkable about this album is the way that the saxophone emulates other instruments; while it is often very clear that it is a saxophone being featured, when my attention drifted a little I occasionally assumed I was listening to clarinet or even oboe. The renditions of these familiar melodies are fairly straightforward and performed well, and the altered instrumentation makes this worth a listen for saxophone enthusiasts.
