Block printing on paper. Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese printmaker and painter who created landscapes, portraits, written texts, and illustrations. Hokusai used over 50 names for himself to identify his numerous works. His pieces reflect the Ukiyo-e school of art, which began 150 years before he was born. Ukiyo-e means pictures of the floating world and combines realistic and decorative styles. Artists in this tradition began with screen painting, but as Hokusai did, also also adopted multicolor block printing.

South Wind, Clear Sky submitted by i'm a blobfish on June 23, 2019, 5:13pm It's interesting that the mountain is red, not blue, but I don't really like the color change. There are also way too many clouds too.

South Wind, Clear Sky (Red Fuji) submitted by SBNB on July 25, 2019, 12:04pm I really like this print. The bold colors are great, although I'm not sure there's a clear sky. It looks pretty cloudy.
