Meaningful Character Development! submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:53pm Though this season hints at some of the show’s most egregious future missteps, Ted and company are still in fine form during this season and it includes classic episodes such as “Slapsgiving” and “Sandcastles in the Sand”. Though all of the characters (except maybe Robin) go through significant growth arcs during this season, Barney’s development is perhaps the most interesting, culminating in a surprise during the finale that almost (but not entirely) upstages Ted’s major moment, while Ted himself is not so great even if Stella is one of his more interesting and well-developed love interests. Overall, this season has a good mix of landmark and filler episodes and solid narrative arcs to keep fans hooked, while hinting at greater things to come in season 4 and beyond.
