Awakenings submitted by jibkidder on July 26, 2022, 9:29am This fairly straightforward illness drama based on the work of Oliver Sacks and directed by Penny Marshall, the actor who played Laverne (as in: & Shirley) and directed other singular hits such as "Big" and "A League Of Their Own", was one of the first films for grown-ups to actually make me cry as a child. Robin Williams's charm is not misused here.
