They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord with his gangs, pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

Fury Road, is a fun/crazy/frightening/thrilling film; where machines and stone-cold warriors roar the roads at full throttle, "Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot's five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland," providing a lot of action and suspense.

Fast-Paced Action submitted by Meginator on August 8, 2017, 12:26pm This film offers an unlikely pairing of the stereotypical action flick and a feminist manifesto, and the result is incredibly compelling. The characters are more deeply written and portrayed than in other films of this ilk, yet the film doesn't sacrifice action (or even violence) for overt messaging. Instead, the story hums along at a nice clip and illustrates how effortless it can be to include women in spaces that traditionally exclude them. The action scenes are wonderfully imagined and shot, and the sets are just as astounding. Nothing else is quite like this, for all of its plot predictability, and it's strangely compelling.

More subtext than text submitted by SurfGrape on August 13, 2018, 3:49pm This movie is deeper than it looks at first viewing. Underneath all the action is a thoughtful feminist film. There is scant dialogue, which means that every line has a deeper meaning. Worth watching multiple times.
