Aloha submitted by leenajong on August 3, 2016, 7:50am A cute romance movie.

Emma Stone as Allison Ng submitted by willow on August 18, 2016, 10:27pm Emma Stone, who is white, is part of the all-white cast of this movie, set in Hawaii, where nearly 60% of the population has some Asian ancestry. She plays Allison Ng, who is Chinese/Hawaiian/Swedish.

no good submitted by manz on August 20, 2016, 1:59pm Just not good. Boring and plain.

Surprisingly Good, but Problematic submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2017, 3:45pm I enjoyed this movie and think that it offers some interesting twists on the tried and true romantic comedy genre; a lot of the plot is unexpected and the character development is surprisingly deep for this type of film. It does what it does competently enough. However, while I love Emma Stone, it's a mistake to cast her as a character with Asian ancestry, as to my knowledge she does not. This choice, while theoretically intended to draw attention to many Hawaiians' heritage, instead becomes an insult and feels wrong throughout the film. It's too bad, because this film otherwise could have been pretty great, if a bit heavy-handed in some of its messaging.

ok submitted by kbahleda on July 23, 2018, 10:38am great cast and an ok film
