cartoon parody fun read for kids and adults submitted by schriste on June 18, 2016, 1:13pm Nuts in Space follows a crew of woodland animals who are on a journey home after finding the lost nuts of legend. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for the reader, the trip home proves to be a little more complicated than expected. Dolan's cartoon illustrations have plenty of references to Star Wars and Star Trek, and the title seems to almost insist on reading it in the same voice as the Muppets Pigs in Space announcer. There is a page of characters on the nut-free planet that seems to make light of nut allergies; such a depiction may bother those who suffer from them. Overall though, plenty of fun for adults and for kids, who can enjoy the story as is and continue to enjoy it as they begin to pick up on the pop culture references.

A funny winner submitted by manz on January 30, 2019, 12:18pm For kids who are into space, humor, and some Star Wars references!

Jokes. In. Spaaaaaaaace! submitted by Meginator on June 25, 2019, 8:52pm This humorous book is easy enough to follow for young readers and has a lot of visual jokes and references for more seasoned readers’ appreciation. The format consists of very brief narration and a lot of speech bubbles, but the layouts can be confusing as they sometimes follow unnatural patterns. I got all of the jokes eventually, but I had to read a few pages twice. The character design and sets are excellent; be sure to take a thorough look at the endpapers for some good gags. The story is fairly basic and offers little more than a vehicle for the illustrations, but in this regard it is sufficient enough. Overall, I feel like this book wasn’t quite able to capitalize on its full potential, but several pages had me laughing out loud and it makes for an excellent diversion if nothing else.
