"Mjolnir lies on the moon, unable to be lifted! Something dark has befallen the God of Thunder, leaving him unworthy for the first time ever! But when Frost Giants invade Earth, the hammer will be lifted - and a mysterious woman will be transformed into an all-new version of the mighty Thor! Who is this new Goddess of Thunder? Not even Odin knows, but she may be Earth's only hope against the Frost Giants! Get ready for a Thor like you've never seen before, as this all-new heroine takes Midgard by storm! Plus: The Odinson clearly doesn't like that someone else is holding his hammer - it's Thor vs. Thor! And Odin, desperate to see Mjolnir returned, will call on some very dangerous, very unexpected allies. It's a bold new chapter in the storied history of Thor!" -- summary from forbiddenplanet.com.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Thor is a Woman! submitted by hanxanth on June 12, 2015, 8:37am In previous issues of Thor, the mighty God of Thunder has been transformed into a variety of forms (including a frog). This time, Thor Odinson is told a shocking piece of information making him suddenly unworthy to wield the mighty hammer Mjolnir. Dejected, Thor tries futilely to lift his hammer from the place where it fell from his grasp on the moon. The rest of Asgard tries and fails to lift the hammer (including Odin himself!), and eventually leave it to it's cold, lonely fate.

Enter a woman. We don't know who she is, or where she came from, but she can lift up Mjolnir. Her hair turns blonde, armor surrounds her body, and she can command the forces of lightning. Meet the new Thor! Follow the new wielder of lightning, the one deemed worthy by the hammer!

I never read the original Thor, but this new Thor is totally awesome. She's tough, sassy, and a perfect blend of Asgard and Midgard. It's definitely worth a read, especially if you're into comics that support strong female leads!

Thorette? submitted by tbbrown76 on July 7, 2018, 10:16pm Not buying the premise. But, we do have two genders, so why not?

More Please submitted by majean on July 27, 2019, 3:23pm I wish there was more with this Thor; I really liked her. I still have trouble understanding how Thor is a character apart from, well, Thor, but I think it works.
