The Missing Apostrophe Bothers Me But the Music Is Solid submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:57pm This album is heavily biographical and has a confessional feeling to it even when Drake seems to be bragging, with “You & the 6” and “My Side”, both tracks that come late in the album, serving more or less as thesis statements for the entire project. Drake has an excellent sense of flow that he varies somewhat to suit the backing tracks, which prevents the album from becoming too repetitive even though most of the tracks are fairly average. Even without an obvious breakout single or two and some repetitiveness in the songs’ structure and backing beats, the album rewards close and repeated listening; it’s an exercise in depth and not flash, an approach that makes perfect sense when paired with the lyrical content. This isn’t the place to start with Drake, but his fans should really enjoy this.
