UP! The River submitted by tarascon on August 17, 2023, 12:07pm This brilliant film, a gorgeous feast for the eyes, shows Renoir at his thoughtful, sincere best. It’s also refreshingly free of the usual cultural paternalism so common to the films of the era.
Just imagine how the American western would’ve been handled by Renoir.
