Thought-provoking submitted by KMLB64 on July 10, 2022, 7:56am When the finale to this series aired, 51 percent of all households with televisions watched it. It remains one of the most popular shows of all time. I find that fascinating. When I graduated from a large suburban Detroit elementary school in 1976, no students or staff were black. People have been stopped for “driving while black” for decades since. George Floyd recently was murdered by police. So I was surprised that 1. People were watching the show and 2. Not a whole lot changed. Riveting performances by major and then- upcoming actors of the day. Reading Rainbow, Good Times, Mary Tyler Moore, The Waltons and even Brady Bunch actors have roles!
