COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Hmm submitted by rossorr on July 6, 2016, 1:29am The curved-screen Cinerama process is historically interesting—sort of the VR of the 1950s—and it's cool that AADL has all the digital restorations that have come out recently. But if you're curious, I'd suggest starting with a different title from their travelogue series, like 'South Seas Adventure.'

This one tries to cover a few too many locations, leaning heavily on the aerial photography (courtesy of their go-to daredevil pilot Paul Matz), and long shots of cityscapes and colorful crowds of locals. It's a bit unsatisfying as a movie-watching experience, because you don't really engage with any people as individuals. It's like a whole film assembled from second-unit photography. You do capture a nice time capsule of the 50's in some of the locations visited (like the arabian oil fields).
