COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Armstrong Beyond the Moon submitted by Meginator on August 5, 2020, 5:15pm This documentary offers a light sketch of the shape of Neil Armstrong’s life, from his boyhood experiences with aviation and training as a U.S. Navy test pilot to his famous mission to the Moon and subsequent fame. Each person interviewed offers unique insight into Armstrong’s personality and accomplishments, particularly those present at pivotal moments in his career, and the supplementary audio from Armstrong himself provides nice balance. The footage, too, is excellent and leaves viewers to marvel and the many miracles that make space travel possible and the desolate beauty of the cosmos, as well as the more humdrum aspects of training and daily life. I do wish the film had more of a solid narrative through-line, but the producers do well with the allotted time. This documentary is excellent for what it is, a broad view of one of the pivotal figures in the history of space exploration.
