"After Margherita's father steals parsley from the walled garden of the courtesan Selena Leonelli, he is threatened with having both hands cut off, unless he and his wife relinquish their precious little girl. Amazing Story! Masterfully Crafted!
submitted by cadoh on September 9, 2015, 4:04pm
I have just finished listening to all **16** CDs of this amazing story!
How intricately and masterfully interwoven are the stories of three strong women: Charlotte-Rose, Selena (La Strega), and Margherita - each of whom lost her mother at a tender age, was imprisoned in one way or another at some point in her life, and through "good grace" found her voice and her freedom.
I will now be looking to read more about the life of Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de la Force - her original tale of "Persinette."
Some further insight into her life, provided by the book's author, is available at http://gillpolack.livejournal.com/954997.html#t8374901
Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 29, 2018, 11:27am I liked the focus on women and their lives. However, I found the overall themes to be a little heavy-handed and at times struggled to get through the parts of the story that weren't the Rapunzel retelling.
