I loved it! submitted by cheathmo on July 13, 2016, 12:18pm I really enjoyed this book. It was written conversationally as if someone was telling you the history of the world. I thought adding the details of referencing other writing and commenting on theories made it seem much more believable. If you are interested in A Song of Ice and Fire, this book is a great addition!

So good submitted by lbootzin on July 24, 2016, 9:48pm The history nerd in me loves this! Especially the genealogies and background on the Targaryens. The illustrations are also well done.

SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE BOOKS submitted by nsvinicki on August 8, 2017, 2:23pm This history of Westeros and the surrounding landmasses is written like a history book, but a history book written by a reader. It's not overly pedantic, funny, witty, and deeply engrossing. It includes all kinds of background information not found in the books, in a simple and easy-to understand vernacular. I had to skip around in the books because they were so hard to read.

This history chronicles the entirety of the universe's history, beginning before the First Men, and ending to about the end of season five of the TV show. If you're picky like me, this book floats somewhere between the book and TV canons, but none of the information seems to contradict.

Each major family has its own section, and all information is easy to find.
There are TONS of full color illustrations that are beautifully done. Lots of maps and diagrams and family trees.
DEFINITELY pick this up if you're a GoT fan!

The World of Ice and Fire submitted by PizzaPuppy on September 21, 2017, 11:26am A recent addition to our collection is The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones, a comprehensive history of the Game of Thrones universe. As many of George R. R. Martin's fans know, one of his many strengths is the complex worldbuilding within the Game of Thrones novels. The World of Ice and Fire does an amazing job of simplifying the plethora of information offered throughout the series into a (relatively) concise history of the Game of Thrones world.

This 326 page mega-book contains detailed maps of the Game of Thrones world, color illustrations, full family trees for each of the major Houses, and an extended history with cultural information spanning the entire Game of Thrones universe. It also includes all-new material that George R. R. Martin wrote specifically for this collection. This incredibly informative companion novel is a must read for fans searching for an in-depth look at the history of Essos, Westeros, and everywhere in between.

Looking for a quicker way to get reacquainted with your favorite Game of Thrones characters and their backgrounds? Give the Game of Thrones graphic novels a try! For more information about the HBO television series specifically, be sure to take a look at Inside HBO's Game of Thrones for a cool sneak peek at what happens behind the scenes of one of the most popular shows on television.

Such Fun! submitted by timdufresne on July 13, 2018, 9:16am Dive in deeeeeep into the world of Westros and Essos and learn more than you ever wanted about the Great Houses, the wars, and the myths of the series.
