COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Intense! submitted by daviteo on May 12, 2022, 6:02pm First, a minor spoiler but nothing too revealing: the story is about four people, down on their luck, in South America who have to ship unstable dynamite across the jungle, and the title of the film comes from the name they give one of their trucks.

The film has no supernatural elements, just "nature" in all its power. The film was directed by WIll Friedkin right off the heels of The Exorcist. While it doesn't necessarily match the intensity of that film, it's more suspenseful than most, perhaps almost Hitchcockian. The only snag was the first quarter of the film where you're introduced to the four main characters in short vignettes dedicated to each (some in Europe, some in America, etc.). This was the only time my wife and I were thrown slightly by the film. Once you get past these opening scenes and the setting moves to South America, the movie takes on its own life, and it's here that the real intensity starts.

If you're in the mindset to see an oftimes brutal, white-knuckle film, give this a go.
