Okay submitted by Motomori on July 12, 2015, 11:35am I would like this album more if they didn't play A sky full of stars 24/7 on the radio. Now when I listen to this, I can only hear A sky full of stars on repeat in my head.

Better than the last. submitted by pej08 on July 20, 2015, 4:15pm Although Ghost stories doesn't have all the same pop appeal as its predecessor, Mylo Xyloto, I found it to be very intriguing and deep, more reminiscent of their earlier works. The melodies are a little bit more complex, there are more layers of instruments, and more than anything else there is more emotion conveyed in the lyrics and music. I've only listened through one time so far, but I definitely feel the urge to go through it again because I feel like there are things that I missed that I can't wait to discover.

Approachable and Hummable submitted by B00kw0rm on August 22, 2016, 2:42pm "Ghost Stories" will probably leave pop/rock fans humming, intermittently grooving, and desirous of an encore. Hits such as "A Sky Full of Stars" and "Magic" appeal to a broad audience--from kids through adults-- with upbeat lyrics, melodies, and danceable rhythms. Coldplay's signature emo piano/electronic/alto-tenor-driven brand is highly approachable throughout this album. I initially deemed it pleasantly engaging enough for background music--but repeated listening revealed further layers of subtlety.

Although Coldplay's emotional vulnerability and melodicism is still apparent in "Ghost Stories," none of the material here seems as sad or edgy as earlier songs like "Fix You." During the past decade, some of the band's members have experienced life-altering events-- including parenthood and divorce--perhaps altering certain sensibilities. While the comparative dearth of angst in this collection of songs may not appeal to those who prefer musical or lyrical edges, listeners (of all ages) who seek respite and diversion from sturm und drang are likely to find the album worthwhile.

Grew on Me submitted by karlagroesbeck on August 1, 2019, 11:21pm At first it wasn't my favorite, but then it grew on me because of how deeply spiritual it was. It touched so many levels including my deeper, more heartfelt ones.
