"Darkness has descended on the Shadowhunter world. Chaos and destruction overwhelm the Nephilim as Clary, Jace, Simon, and their friends band together to fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary's own brother. Nothing in this world can defeat Sebastian--but if they journey to the realm of demons, they just might have a chance.."-- Provided by publisher.

Good submitted by bluepapaya on June 14, 2014, 5:11pm This is a good ending, a little predictable, but it's funny and sweet. Plus most characters get happy ending.
Engrossing submitted by jdgerich on August 4, 2014, 2:16pm A good but not great conclusion, leaving an obvious opening for further storylines. It will make more sense if you read the Infernal Instruments series first.
An Okay Ending submitted by ajstemp on June 27, 2018, 12:08pm This served as a good conclusion to the Mortal Instruments series, but not a perfect one. In some ways, things were predictable, and I almost found myself tired of some of the predictable actions of the characters. But ultimately, the series ended well, and it tied up most of the major plot points.
Okay submitted by c_zhang on June 28, 2019, 12:13am A decent ending, but not the best. The plot was kind of predictable. Clary becomes especially insufferable in this book, but the other characters make up for it.
A great finale submitted by Nay7 on August 15, 2020, 11:38pm Read it all in three days
A pretty solid ending

This book took me a while to get through as well but the beach scene made it all worth it. I know a lot of people don't love Clary and Jace but they are one of my comfort ships and I love them. I love how much love they have for each other.
Wasn't expecting to cry in this book but I did. A pretty solid ending for a beloved nostalgic series.
