COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Enjoyable submitted by Ilyjtwya on June 14, 2014, 10:32am I watched this movie because my 11 year old had read, and enjoyed the first two books. I recommend looking up information about the premise of the Hunger Games to decide whether it is appropriate for your own child. That being said, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. There is some allusion to what happened in the first movie, but not many specifics. I suggest watching the first movie first. However, if you have trouble living with a cliffhanger, maybe you should wait until the third movie is out to even start watching the series (or have the book on hand) ;)

good submitted by ECReader on June 15, 2014, 1:52pm this was a very enjoyable and interesting movie. i have read the entire series 7 times! that means i have read all three books 7 times! this movie really showed the things you would read in the book- and i would know!

good adaptation submitted by camelsamba on June 19, 2014, 12:33pm The movie is a good adaptation of the book. A lot of the detail has to be removed in the interest of time, but they focus on the core elements of the conflict. The scene in District 11 during the Victors' Tour is particularly moving.

Good Movie submitted by monkk on June 23, 2014, 7:39pm I love the Hunger Games movies way more than I thought I was going to. The first one made me want to read, and then listen to the books. I enjoy the Hunger games in all formats, and I've gotten my (adult) friends hooked too.

Very good submitted by hornv on June 28, 2014, 4:06pm Was a good movie. I liked the first one too.

Good submitted by srclark734 on July 8, 2014, 1:03pm Good, like usual the book was better but they did a better job then most movies do at turning it into a movie.

Awesome submitted by eagles on August 3, 2014, 1:50pm This movie was very entertaining to me.

Good movie submitted by noor82 on August 5, 2014, 12:06am Good movie very very true to the books

Yeah, Katniss! submitted by firstanointed on August 10, 2014, 3:00pm Good stuff. My favorite out of the series of films so far. Also my favorite of the books, so that helps. I'm not a huge HUGE fan of the series, but as a story and film, this was a strong piece of entertainment, helped along by a great cast and Jennifer Lawrence's fantastic thespian work. Good show!

Nice Follow-up submitted by Motomori on July 12, 2015, 11:50am Nice followup to the Hunger Games.

Catching Fire submitted by SBNB on July 12, 2015, 3:37pm This is a good movie. Very enjoyable. However, I thought that more time should have been devoted to the games. They seemed to rush it.

ok movie submitted by sumsaylor on July 29, 2015, 2:37pm The second book was my favorite in the Hunger Games series but I thought the movie didn't quite work as well as the book. It covered all of details of the book, but didn't capture the emotion as well.

Catching Fire submitted by Cherrytreelane on June 27, 2017, 11:13pm Great addition to the series.

great submitted by yenkong on July 2, 2017, 11:54am Good follow up movie. Although I still like to book.

A Good Middle Movie submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2017, 10:02am "Catching Fire" is the middle of a cinematic trilogy, but the filmmakers do a good job ensuring that it is compelling and that it stands on its own. The adaptation isn't as close to the book as the first film is, with more of a feeling that certain scenes and characters are left out, but most of the alterations are understandable. This film felt a bit more rushed than either the first film or the book and the secondary characters' development is a bit stunted as a result, even though the cast performs well. The mood of escalation that permeates this film and is conveyed very effectively, with visual cues from similarly dystopian environments real and imagined; the series clearly has movement and this installment does its job to move things along while remaining compelling in its own right. For a middle movie, "Catching Fire" is quite good, even if it does end on a heck of a cliffhanger.

great! submitted by KOH on August 28, 2017, 8:30pm I love this movie!!

Great!! submitted by Smileyfrowns on August 20, 2018, 11:08pm This was a really great movie! Although the book has more details, I think the emotions felt in the book, frustration, anger, apprehension, etc, translate so well in the movie as well.

Remarkable submitted by lstorc on August 27, 2018, 6:25pm This film kept the pacing of the first one, but delved deeper into the politics that are reminiscent of those we encounter today. This was a compelling film.

Great addition to the series! submitted by Xris on August 28, 2018, 8:09pm Loved the visuals that they brought to life from the book!! Interesting to see other winners of the Hunger Games and who competed and who cooperated played out on the screen!

Not Disappointed! submitted by Ella K on June 26, 2019, 5:00pm Sequels... they're typically disappointing. The original Hunger Games movie was in every way a tough act to follow. The relationships, the dystopian future and the lovable characters left the audience wanting more, and with this beautiful sequel I was not disappointed. Introducing more characters who are relatable as well as dimensional, introducing a plot twist that is sure to surprise all of us and introducing a rebellion, this sequel was positively thrilling.

Alright submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 12:34am This is a good movie. Very enjoyable. However, I thought that more time should have been devoted to the games. They seemed to rush it.

Loved it! submitted by yufamily on August 23, 2019, 8:07pm Jen Lawrence is great

A good watch submitted by crp on August 29, 2019, 2:53pm this series does not disappoint. the dystopian society is captured well here, and the aesthetics of this movie stand out.
