"FIRST IN A NEW TRILOGY From Charlaine Harris, the bestselling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale-populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It's a pretty standard dried-up western town. There's a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There's a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there's new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he's found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth... "-- Provided by publisher.

new series does not disappoint submitted by KathyD on June 14, 2014, 7:38am Another satisfying book from Charlaine Harris that captures the essence of an odd small town in Texas. Like her Sookie Stackhouse and Grave series, she provides an amazing blend of everyday details mixed in a believable manner with supernatural elements. Looking forward to the second book (and disappointed that there's only three planned.)
Wait until the next book is written... submitted by jcottey on July 12, 2014, 3:17pm Harris writes a good mystery with interesting characters. This book was a bit of a slow read for me, as compared to the author's other books. I was hoping for more in the story about the psychic nature of Manfred. I'd recommend waiting for the next book before reading this one. That way you'll have two stories and may feel satisfied. At the end of this book, I was left feeling like there needed to be more.
Dark Mood submitted by kathscot on July 12, 2018, 7:31am Harris deftly maintains a dark mood throughout what is basically a murder mystery. Interesting characters. I’ll definitely read the sequel.
