Richard Dunn, a no-hit wonder of a novelist, is sent to Long Island by his wife, who expects him to get cracking on his next novel. Dunn isn't totally alone, though. Along for the ride is a local teen who befriends Richard after he hires her to be a babysitter. His babysitter. Plus, there's Richard's imaginary best friend from childhood, Captain Excellent, a confidante always ready to prod him along toward adulthood, whether Dunn wants it or not.

Didn’t quite gel submitted by mandevil on June 27, 2022, 9:28am The interactions between Emma Stone and Jeff Daniels, and between Jeff Daniels and Lisa Kudro seemed real and mildly interesting, but The Ryan Reynolds character just seemed very flat and jarring so the movie was just weird and not in a good way.
