The final Sookie novel submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 17, 2013, 11:46am The final book in the Sookie Stackhouse series brings the story of the psychic waitress to a satisfactory end, although not the one I wanted. She did not end up with the guy I wanted her to, but she did end up with a good one. Jason also ends up getting married, which is nice considering all he's been through.
Author Charlaine Harris tied up most of Sookie's loose ends, including all the creatures/people who wanted to kill her, although I was sorry that some never got to redeem themselves.
My main complaint it that although the series is billed as mysteries, this one was decidedly not. It was very clear from the beginning who had done what and I just got frustrated with Sookie for taking so long to get it.
The LGBT characters in this book include the vampire Pam (who is bisexual) and (SPOILER ALERT) the fairy Claude, who is gay. Claude gets a fabulous revenge on the homophobic pastor and his minion.
This is the13th book in the Southern vampire series. Harris had originally promised ten, but gave her fans more in the end, which is good for sci fi/fantasy junkies like me. The series has been a guilty pleasure, although it has no great literary value.
