Has a Slight Rhythmic Hiccup submitted by Meginator on July 25, 2022, 11:35am For reference, I haven’t heard the musical version of this book’s text and am forming impressions based only on the book. The rhythm is a bit strange insofar as the book starts off with the strong suggestion of a particular musical style only to immediately transition into a wholly different rhythmic pattern. As usual, this book begs to be sung aloud, making it a good choice for reading with an audience and for audience participation, although I recommend taking a spin through it first to prepare for the aforementioned transition. The text itself has all of the charm you expect from a Sandra Boynton composition, with a few cameo appearances from her usual cast of characters, and slightly more substance than some of her other work. I recommend it despite the potential singalong hiccups.
