At once a rousing paean to artistic creation, a delicate evocation of divine grace, and the ultimate film about food, the Oscar-winning Babette's Feast is a layered tale of a French housekeeper with a mysterious past who brings quiet revolution in the form of one exquisite meal to a circle of starkly pious villagers in late nineteenth-century Denmark.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

BEST MOVIE EVER! submitted by bookher on August 1, 2013, 12:17pm I checked this out on a whim a few years ago and ended up being pleasantly surprised. If you can make it through the bleak, dreary scenery of the first part of the movie, the story line will grab your attention and you won't be able to look away. The ending is absolutely wonderful! I'll never forget this movie.

Bookher is right. The payoff for going along for this ride is amazing. submitted by lisa on August 1, 2019, 1:09pm It's downright magical. Its philosophy has improved this toughie's outlook on life.
