Infatuate (A Gilded Wings Novel #2): Aimee Agresti
5 Stars

Graduating early, good girl Haven is now in New Orleans to volunteer. Away from her family, but with her friends Dante and Lance, they find mangled bodies. The official explanation for the bodies is that they were killed in gang related violence so it's brushed to the side. She and other angels-in-training know that it is caused by a group of demons trying steal unsuspecting souls. They try to keep the city safe while These shape shifting devils, the Krewe, captivate unexpected partiers and kill average citizens during sprees. Haven and her friends must save the people and prevent their own souls from being taken.

I really liked this book. I don't know anything about New Orleans and Mardi Gras but I liked the setting, urban gothic. The author described the scene really well, I could experience the urban city feel and the party crazed people. She captured the jazzy mood of the Big Easy. It's a nice vacation away from my boring neighborhood in "hippie central".

Haven is just average, forgettable, not unique. I don't mind, not everyone is made to be the next reality star. It's good to meet some people who care about their grades and are geeks. We see more of Haven's best friend, Dante. Dante's into guys and fashion. Isn't there some stereotype about gay guys and fashion? I didn't like how Dante was chasing a guy the whole time. I'm here for some demon fighting, not some chasing. And you learn that Dante is in the accelerated angel training, his soul was born into the body instead of the soul having to find the body, whatever that means. I liked the part where Dante worked in the voodoo shop. I wished there was more of that.

Lance is okay. He was not really in this book. Haven and Lance are those intellectuals dating, so they're not the kind of people you would tell them to get a room. Their relationship isn't like fireworks exploding. Haven feels more when she's with Lucian and cheats on Lance. Haven and Lance's relationship is rocky because they are assigned to volunteer at different places and Lance spends more time with Haven's roommate, Sabine. Personally, I like how the author slowly makes the breakup gradual. The time and the situation caused the fallout was natural, so I felt like it was something we can relate to.

I HATE LOVE TRIANGLES!!!!! Did I tell you that? It's hard enough to get one person to be attracted to you, do you know how hard it is to get two people to want to have you all to themselves? She's not even unique, hot, the best looking thing on the planet. I don't like how she can't stop herself from kissing Lucian. How can this intellectual not have self control? She ain't a slut. And she should stop leading Lucian cause she's gonna breaks hearts. The love triangle is overused. That's the only bad part.
