What Does the CIA Do All Day? submitted by wendylv on June 14, 2013, 10:02pm How did the CIA find Osama Bin Laden? "Zero Dark Thirty" tells the fascinating story of the "tradecraft" of spy work and how agents pieced together Bin Laden's org chart and used it to find him. The movie's disturbing and controversial depictions of torture and water-boarding occur in the first 10 minutes and the viewer is left to decide whether these methods are justified, necessary, or even successful. There is nothing heavy-handed, preachy, or jingoistic about this story. Finding terrorists is a complex business that exacts a price on everyone involved.

Solid atypical film making submitted by irenzero on July 1, 2013, 2:00pm ZDT tells the story of the CIA hunt for Osama Bin Laden by telling the story of an investigation they way they happen. Starting with scraps of info, and slowly building one scraps of information gathered over years to put the puzzle together, the film shows the blind alleys, the wrong turns that are taken before finding what the CIA was looking for. Great turns by the whole cast but of course Jessica Chastain (Veronica Mars S 1) anchors the film for the first 2 hours before handing it over to the a SEAL team to finish the job. The last part of the film is the raid that took out Bin Laden, and it's a exciting and well executed operation that shows the SEALS as professional doing their job and avoids the Clichés of the action/ war films that we have seen over the years.

interesting submitted by LVDS on July 26, 2013, 7:24am Not my fav movie, but it's not a fun topic. Of course it's full on violence. Movie helps appreciation of the commitment of the CIA.

Okay submitted by KOH on August 12, 2017, 7:55pm It would have been great, but Jessica Chastain's performance irked me. I ended up just fast forwarding to the main event.

Interesting submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 12:56pm Not my fav movie, but it's not a fun topic. It's very violent, but kind of interesting in a way.
