Funny stuff! submitted by crazypockets on June 19, 2013, 5:22pm For any fans of Ricky Gervais, his podcasts, or just anyone who likes unique travel shows, this is great. I had to return it before getting really into it, but I'll definitely go back to it. Ricky sends his friend Karl on adventures that most people would kill to have, and he hates them all. He's a terrific curmudgeon to watch. You feel sorry for him, but he does go along with it, so you can't feel too sorry.

If Borat and the World's End guys had a baby submitted by nbauer on July 26, 2015, 11:03am Karl, the protagonist, is exactly the kind of guy Simon Pegg would play in one of his movies: a regular Brit without a great deal of curiosity and the bare minimum of intelligence to get by. He's also naturally funny, genuine, and seems pretty sweet. it's not so much that he's insensitive about other cultures, just that he's bewildered as to why anyone would choose to live differently than he would. His observations and reactions are so true, and probably how a lot of more sophisticated folks feel on the inside, but have the pride or poker-face to suppress. crazypockets on this page provides a good summary. The pacing of the show is very nice; you have small breaks where Karl is just being his good self in between parts where you start howling in pain because you're laughing so hard.

not funny submitted by Jackie77 on August 16, 2015, 12:50am I did not find this funny. I watched it for about 30 minutes before taking it out. Seems to full of making fun of people, not my style.

British humor is always a bit odd... submitted by willow on August 20, 2015, 3:42pm Ricky Gervais decides to send his friend (?) Karl around the world to have a laugh, because Karl finds many things astonishing and disgusting or weird. Is some of it rude? Perhaps. But parts of it are pretty funny, because, let's face it, many things in the world ARE bizarre! And they find a lot of those things to film in this show.

In some ways, it's a welcome break from the typical travel shows, where everything appears to be very clean and normal and wonderful.

In the episodes on this disc, he goes to
China (Episode 1) including delicacies and filthy bathrooms as well as the Great Wall
India (Episode 2) including naked yoga
Jerusalem, Bethlehem, The Dead Sea, Petra (Episode 3)
Mexico (Episode 4)
