Amazing submitted by alumeng.ajl on June 26, 2013, 6:20pm This book was really good. I liked Scarlet. Despite this, I didn't like it as much as Cinder. I didn't like Scarlet as a character as much as Cinder. But I do like Wolf a lot more than Kai, he's just so freaking interesting! And Thorne. What can I say about Thorne. God, I love him so, so much! And I just know that he'll be the main love interest for the next book! :)

characters submitted by leett on July 4, 2013, 3:10pm I feel like it was confusing. The switching from Cinder to Scarlet really messed with my head.

LOVE IT! submitted by Mackay2002 on July 16, 2014, 8:47pm Very good book series. Must-read after Cinder.

Scarlet Strikes Back submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on June 26, 2015, 5:18pm Scarlet, the second of the Lunar Chronicles, is a better-written and more absorbing book than the first one, Cinder. We get new characters but also follow the actions of ones introduced in Cinder (including Cinder herself).

Scarlet has her own unique strengths and connections to the larger story, and it ties together well.

Awesome submitted by amills on June 29, 2015, 5:26pm I LOVED THIS BOOK IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!

Better than Cinder submitted by kelleyc on June 22, 2016, 12:57pm Scarlet has more depth, spark, and spunk. A wonderful sequel in a wonderful series.

Lovely! submitted by kzheng on July 9, 2016, 4:54pm The lunar chronicles presents a new spin on classic fairytales. Taking place in a futuristic world where humans have discovered Lunars on the moon. They have special abilities and may be planning to devastate earth

Good YA Fairytale/Sci-fi mashup submitted by nsvinicki on August 8, 2017, 12:01pm I loved Cinder, the first book in Meyer's "Lunar Chronicles" series for the fresh take on a classic Hans Christen Anderson tale "Cinderella"

For her second book, she takes on the Brother's Grimm "Little Red Riding Hood." I won't give too much away, because this is a series and I believe in going blindly into stories, but this book expands on Cinder's struggle to figure out who she is, and introduces our second protaganist, Scarlet.

It's just as exciting as the first, with lots of world building. We get to see dystopian Europe instead of China, and more Lunars. Keep reading - the series only gets better from here.

Enjoyed This submitted by clb89 on August 13, 2017, 9:48pm I love how they introduce the character of Scarlet and allow her to finally meet Cinder. The character development with all the characters is wonderful.

SO GOOD submitted by jw on August 11, 2018, 1:08pm One of my favorite series. Its just so compelling

Scarlet submitted by c_zhang on June 27, 2019, 11:38pm I really liked how all the characters and their stories intertwine. It's such a good take on classic fairytales. Interesting and captivating.

BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES submitted by avgriffith on August 11, 2020, 3:55pm this book was so much better than the others. the writing was AMAZING and Scarlet has such a fiery personality!

Great Read submitted by JHermanowski on August 7, 2022, 9:57pm Wonderful book in the series. Further expansion on Scarlet as we continue to tie all the characters together. Great interpretation of little red riding hood that’s exciting and modern.

Excellent Second submitted by kathscot on July 30, 2023, 7:36am A sequel that maintains the energy and interest of the first book. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
